The Eastern Ring of Russia takes its first steps


The trans-border tourist project The Eastern Ring of Russia has entered the approval phase and presented a press-tour of the 20 federal press representatives to territories of several project members  Buryatia, Khabarovsk kray, Yakutia and Kamchatka  scheduled for August-September. The project includes the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the Republic of Buryatia, Kamchatka kray, Primorsky kray, Khabarovsk kray, Amur region, Irkutsk region, Magadan region, Sakhalin region, the Jewish autonomous region and Chukotka autonomous district.

Mrs. Ekaterina Kormilitsyna, Minister of entrepreneurship and tourism development of the Sakha-Yakutia Republic and Chairman of the Coordination Committee on tourism of the Interregional association of economic cooperation of the Russian Federation subjects Far East and Transbaikalia, spoke about implementation of a new major tourist project at the INTOURMARKET Travel fair.

She informed that the project is envisaged to become a basis for formation of a unified environment and an instrument of cooperation with APEC countries. The project will be implemented with participation of extrabudgetary funds of the public private partnership including those under the federal special-purpose program Development of inbound and domestic tourism in Russian Federation (2011-2018).

She also admitted that round trips are not on sale yet however several sectors of the Eastern ring already welcome visitors. Two thousand tourists visited Yakutia during the recent tourist season which is quite an achievement.

The Minister invited travel journalists to press tour coordinated by Federal Agency for tourism of the Russian Federation which is designed as a milestone event for promotion of the project the main objective of which is an increase of the Far East and Baikal regions contribution to the RF economy by a multiplication effect of the tourism development in the region.
