In 2016 the Bulgarian Ministry of Tourism expects to launch a global project aimed at promoting all year-round tourism in the country. It is expected to run additional charter flights from Russia to Bulgaria during the low season and the start of the summer season. The Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Bulgaria Nikolina Angelkova told about this plan at “Intourmarket-2015”.
According to her the Russian market has always held and holds a leading position among the major tourist markets for Bulgaria and it is important for the country that Russians visited it all year round.
“The program to launch additional charter flights will cover a number of periods when the number of tourists is significantly reduced. These include March, April, May, June, October and November. As expected the charters will use low-cost airlines, ”- said the Minister.
Responding to a question of the TRN chief editor about the real prospects of this project the Ministry head told that in the coming days she intends to visit Brussels to discuss all the nuances and possibilities of the implementation of these plans.
“While these are only our plans everything will depend on the results of my talks with the colleagues in the European Commission. It is also important to understand the size and financial assistance in this matter. In addition I plan to discuss with my colleagues in Brussels the question related to the facilitation of the visa procedure in the country’s airports ”, - added Angelkova.
She also stressed she did not want to get ahead of herself and tell all the details of the planned “charter project”.
