About 370 thousand tourists visited Bulgaria’s winter resorts during Christmas and New Year holidays that is 3% more than during the same period last year. Mrs. Nikolina Angelkova, Minister of tourism of Bulgaria, also pointed at a growth in overnight accommodation income. She said that the received profits are about 20 mln. Euro that is 3% bigger that the last year figures. Mrs. Angelkova added that all major winter resorts: Borovets, Pamporovo and Banski had hosted more tourists from UK, Israel, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Macedonia, Moldova and Russia.
“Sofia Airport received 178 flights while last year only 80. There were 24 flights from UK, now — 69 flights. Seven new flights started flying from Ukraine. Flights from Russia grew by 8%. There are more flights from Copenhagen and the Netherlands. Turkish Airlines now have 19 flights per week if compared to 14 last year”, said Mrs. Angelokova in an interview to the Bulgarian National Television.
