The opening ceremony was attended by the Head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Oleg Safonov, Executive Director of the World Tourism Organization Zoltan Somogyi, Altai Region Governor Alexander Karlin, Head of Tourism and Regional Politics Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Yarilova, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship Anatoly Aksakov, Head of the Moscow Department of National Politics, Interregional communication and Tourism Vladimir Chernikov, Vice President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Yury Barzykin.

Despite the difficult economic situation in the country the jubilee ITM turned out to be a real celebration of the Russian domestic tourism.

74 Russian regions literally shocked with variety of bright proposals and their informative exhibits both professional visitors of the exhibition and direct potential tourists whose number as noted by the participants of the exhibition was significantly higher than previous years. Russian tourists showed very high real interest to native tourist routes and facilities generously offered by the representatives of the Russian regions.

Altai Region headed by the governor A. Karlin at its stand of over 1,000 sq meters presented with great success both the regional wide tourist potential including the possibility of eco-tourism and crafts as well as performances by folk ensembles and more.

The expositions of Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and Rostov Region, the Komi Republic and Adygea, Vladimir, Arkhangelsk and Yaroslavl regions, Primorsky Krai and many others enjoyed the highest interest on behalf of the numerous tourists and professional visitors.

Regions of the Volga Federal District as well as last year teamed up at a colorful consolidated stand under the “Great Volga” brand name, and the Far East and Siberian regions met together at the booth “Eastern Ring of Russia” — they all showed an abundance of proposals and highest professionalism.

Foreign participants were a success as well — ITM was attended by all major and most popular destinations among Russians:

Bulgaria, China, Egypt, Italy, Spain, Greece, the Baltic States, Morocco, Tunisia, Romania, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and many other countries that annually attract a large number of visitors by their colorful stands, summer tourist season novelties, performances and tasting of national cuisine. CIS countries this year have been represented by Uzbekistan, Republic of Moldova and Belarus.

All ITM guests gladly noted the amazing atmosphere of a holiday created at the exhibition venue. Travel industry professionals appreciated the opportunity not only to take part in a meaningful dialogue but also to find solutions to many thorny issues of the industry.
