New Year holidays in Moscow museums

More than 70 Moscow museums, exhibition halls and galleries have prepared special New Year programs for tourists and capital residents. Among them are interactive events, holiday shows, excursions, performances, etc. According to the official website of the mayor of Moscow, last year about a million tourists participated in the program, this year an increase in attendance is expected.

In the Cosmonautics Museum, tourists will see the play “The Space Adventures of Belka and Strelka. A flight to Mars”. The Pushkin Museum will invite young tourists and their parents to New Year’s family dance parties, where children can enjoy fabulous performances based on ancient myths, and parents — quizzes, dances and salon games of the 19th century.

The Timiryazev State Biological Museum organizes daily excursions, master classes and interactive classes. In the Darwin Museum you can see the Snore of the Cave Bear exhibition . The main exhibit is a real three-meter skeleton of the predator.

The K.G. Paustovsky Museum Center will show the Magic Fairy Tales of the Old House program, during which children and adults will take part in the theater of shadows show, dub New Year’s filmstrips and make holiday souvenirs.

Visitors to the Museum of Moscow will attend a modern production of Andersen’s Tales with sophisticated visual effects. In the House of Burganov, Muscovites will meet with a surrealistic snowman, have a museum tour and learn how to make a Christmas star, an angel and a postcard-tree.

In the Museum of Moscow Defense, guests will participate in a game-quest and find out how in 1941 New year holiday preparations were made and how people decorated homes.

Moscow estates and parks also welcome guests. For example, the winter wizard will meet visitors at the estate of Santa Claus in Kuzminki until January 31. The program will include excursions to the mansions of the manor, creative workshops, tea drinking and meetings with the host.

Kuskovo will hold New Year’s carnivals that reproduce masquerades of 250 years ago. Izmailovo invites tourists to the Happy New Year! With new happiness! exhibition devoted to seasonal holidays, Christmas-tree decorations and gifts. Kolomenskoye will show the spell of the old mirror play: a musical with participation of circus artists and performing animals. Tsaritsyno organizes a Christmas fair; a tubing slide and ski rental are available as well as dog-, reindeer- and horse sledding. The Wiles of the Mouse King play will be on in the Grand Palace.
