Kronotsky State Natural Biosphere Reserve

Kronotsky State Nature Biosphere Reserve is a governmental institution dedicated to conservation, scientific research and eco-education. It manages three specially protected nature conservation areas: the Kronotsky and Koryaksky Reserves and the South Kamchatka Federal Sanctuary. Protected areas are located in Kamchatka Peninsula. The world-famous Valley of Geysers is located in Kronotsky Biosphere reserve. It is one of the largest geyser fields in the world. Photographers from around the world are attracted by Kronotsky volcano. Kuril Lake, located in the South Kamchatka Federal Sanctuary is the largest in Eurasia spawning sockeye salmon lake and Kamchatka brown bear population in the sanctuary has about 1000 individuals. Every year hundreds of tourists arrive to the lake to watch from a safe distance the bears catching salmon. Koryaksky reserve is a wetland of international importance, very promising for ornithological scientific tourism.
